Scandinavian Fest is a not-for-profit event to celebrate and promote the cultures, histories, and current life of the Nordic area countries.  It is staffed entirely by volunteers. If you would enjoy the satisfaction of helping to produce the largest Nordic event in the East, and possibly the country, please consider volunteering your help on the day of the Fest. The Fest needs people to help with Admissions, the Information Booth and to work to keep things on schedule at the  performance stages. 

Or - you might want to participate in the planning of the Fest through the year. 

Besides the satisfaction at supporting a worthwhile event and the fun of meeting and working with the other volunteers and other participants, volunteers of course receive free admission and priority parking.

We are always looking for volunteers in these areas:

Entertainment/Exhibits

Volunteers are needed to assist with Entertainment/Exhibits in 4 areas;

1- Reading a brief 3-5 sentence introduction of the performer/group. You will receive all the information several weeks prior to the Fest. You will have time to review and ask questions.  All performers are very helpful with pronunciations and they usually add info as the program progresses. You will be assigned to one of the performing sites.

2- Operating the sound system. Includes putting in tapes, CD's, working the volume, placing microphones. All equipment will be set up and tested prior to the Fest. No technical experience necessary. You will receive information prior to the Fest as to the individual needs of each performer/group. You will be assigned to one of the five performing sites.

3. Craft demonstration Tent- Volunteer to assist with set up and take down. Be available to to relieve crafter. Set up chairs for classes.

4. Exhibits- Volunteer to set up, place out literature - keep literature available - refill as it is distributed, place signs for space assignments for exhibitors. Be available at end of day to pack up and dispose of any literature that is left.

Admissions

We need probably 12 to 15 helpers at Admission to take tickets. We have some, but not enough.  

Information Booth

• Helping people locate sites and activities i.e. bathrooms and entertainment stages. (site maps provided)
• Lost and found area (people and items).
• Aid in sign up for drawing. Sitting position - great for those who cannot stand for long periods of time.
• Answering general Fest questions.

Selling ScanFest's Souvenir T-Shirts.  

All volunteers receive a free admission ticket.
