Our History
The Scandinavian Fest, aka ScanFest, started in 1985 by two local lodges of NJ District 6 of the Vasa Order of America. It began as a small picnic with a few vendors. This event quickly gained steam and, over time, became the largest Scandinavian Festival on the East Coast. The event became its own entity and now has over 100 craft vendors, entertainers, speakers, food vendors, demonstrators, in total and much more. All with the common goal to celebrate, promote, and enjoy Scandinavian Heritage. This event will once again be held at NJ Vasa Park in Budd Lake, NJ. The same place where it started! The committee currently consists of 5 hardworking volunteers who organize, promote, and run the event. Countless volunteers help with the overall success of the day. Venue
This year’s venue will once again be NJ Vasa Park, located at 93 Wolfe Rd in Budd Lake, NJ. This is where the event started and its proper home. Vasa Park, which is owned and operated by members of NJ District 6, was established in 1936 as a place for Swedish Americans to be around common links to their homeland and help them integrate into American society. This has now evolved into an organization open to everyone interested in promoting and celebrating Scandinavian culture and heritage.
